CONCORD, N.C. — Over 60 guitars and nearly 100 paintings were destroyed after a large house fire at the home of Jim Avett in Concord Friday afternoon, according to the Allen Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home around 12:53 p.m. and could see heavy fire coming from the garage.
With the help of multiple fire departments in Cabarrus County, firefighters were able to get the fire under control around 1:30 p.m with no injuries to report.
Fire officials say two K9’s were rescued from the home belonging to Jim Avett, father of Concord rock band The Avett Brothers.
Jim Avett says he is thankful everyone made it out alive.
A large collection of guitars and paintings were destroyed in the fire.
