CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Actor’s Theatre Of Charlotte will end its Rock the Barn outdoor series with the cult classic musical Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”.

ATC Executive Director Chip Decker says “It seems fitting that the show about the ultimate time warp (we’re living in one, right?) is as popular as ever.”

The play was the basis for the 1975 cult movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which has lived on in theaters worldwide for the past 40 years.

Decker describes the show as “A wild ride with an irresistible rock score, this classic tribute to science fiction, B movies, and fishnets is everything your mother warned you about!”

ATC created an outdoor venue with a festival feel for “Act 1” of its Season 33 at “The Barn at MoRA – a Levine Property,” 8300 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C., 28212.

The outdoor venue is complete with a performance stage and bring-your-own-seating, with the historic 1923 dairy barn and silos as the backdrop for the evening performances.

Decker says out of an abundance of caution, part of the run of “Rock Of Ages” and the full run of “Head Over Heels” were canceled over local COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant.

After careful consideration and research, Decker says the show will go on for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” beginning October 6th and running through October 31st.

For the safety of guests, artists, and staff, proof of full vaccination and a photo ID will be required to attend any ATC performance.

Seating will be socially distanced in “pods” drawn on the ground and audience members are required to bring their own chairs, blankets, etc.

More information on health and safety protocols can be found online here.

All tickets are $35 per person and available for purchase at ATCharlotte.org.

The closing performance on Halloween night (aka Sunday, October 31st) will be a special event including food, drinks, prizes, and a costume contest, all for $65 per ticket.

ATC is proud to partner with its Rock The Barn Presenting Sponsor, MoRA, Levine Properties, and WCCB Charlotte’s CW.
