Body Found In Body Of Water In Southeast Charlotte, Death Investigation Underway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a death investigation after a body was found floating in a body of water in southeast Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded around 1:55 p.m. to Village Lake Drive for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they located a body floating in a small body of water. With assistance from the Charlotte Fire Department, the body was removed from the water and pronounced dead by officers shortly after.

As is standard procedure for any sudden or unexpected death, the CMPD’s Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
