Cold Air Spilling Into The Carolinas

[ad_1]

A cold front drops temperatures overnight in wake of a cold front

A cold front will sweep across the Carolinas this evening bringing scattered showers north of I-40. This front is strong in the way of cold air, but starved for moisture. By the time the front makes it to the Piedmont this evening, there may be a shower or two left over, but do not count on rain. It will be blustery this evening in the High Country with winds gusting up to 45 mph and low temperatures dropping into the 20s! Low temperatures across the Piedmont will fall into the upper 30s to around 40 with decreasing clouds.

High temperatures on Friday will only top out in the 50s with Saturday morning back to the 20s and 30s. We stay cool and dry through the weekend as a cool area of high pressure builds in. Our next weather system will arrive Sunday evening bringing a better chance of showers and cooler air to kick off next week.

* We really need the rain. The drought monitor is getting worse with 76% of NC in a drought and 59% of SC.

Tonight: Cold front! Mtn lows in the 20s. Piedmont lows: 38. Wind: SW then N 10-20.

Friday: Sunny and cool. High: 56. Wind: N 5-15.

Friday Overnight: Clear skies. Low: 30. Wind: NE 5-10.

Saturday: Sunny and cool. High: 55. Wind: E/NE 5-10.

Happy Thursday!
