MECKLENBURG CO., N.C. — Mecklenburg County Public Health officials will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Charlotte on Saturday, October 16th.
Health officials say they will be offering first, second, third or booster shots of the vaccine to eligible individuals from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the clinic held at Southeast Health Department on Billingsley Road.
Walk-ins are welcome, but officials say appointments are preferred by clicking here or calling the COVID-19 hotline at 980-314-9400.
Officials say single doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are available to anyone 18-years-old and up, first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available to anyone 12-years-old and up, and Pfizer vaccine booster shots will be available for a select group of individuals.
Individuals who wish to get their Pfizer booster shot must be at least six months out after their primary vaccine series and must bring their vaccine card with them to the clinic as proof.
Officials say booster shots are recommended for the following individuals:
- People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings.
- People aged 50 – 64 with certain underlying medical conditions.
- People aged 18 – 49 who are at high risk for severe COVID-19 due to certain underlying medical conditions, based on their individual benefits and risks.
- People aged 18 – 64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional settings, based on their individual benefits and risks.
Officials say third doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available to people with moderate to severe immunocompromising conditions, per the CDC’s recommendations, and the person must verbally attest to their immunocompromising condition.
