CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Millions are taking to the skies as holiday travel returns to near pre-pandemic levels.

The number of people flying for Thanksgiving is expected to double this year, according to AAA.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the busiest days at Charlotte Douglas this week, with more than 30,000 passengers flying out each day.

Another 50,000 will connect in Charlotte each of those days.

COVID is on the mind, for some.

“I don’t know. I guess it depends on vaccination rates. LA’s pretty strict right now. You have to have proof of vaccination to go a lot of places, so I’m feeling pretty OK about that,” says Mooresville, NC resident Jordyn Biffle.

Nationwide, COVID cases are up 16 percent in the past week, according to Johns Hopkins University.
