Messy Days Ahead – WCCB Charlotte’s CW

A strong cold front sweeps in by Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and the possibility of severe storms.

The clouds have returned for our Sunday, and don’t expect them to go anywhere soon. The moisture-laden air mass leftover from former Hurricane Nicholas continues to sit over the Southeast, bringing rain and overcast skies to much of the region. While the Carolinas have been able to avoid many of the showers and storms, that trend will come to an end by midweek as a cold front sweeps in from the northwest. Expect widespread rain coverage on both Tuesday and Wednesday. As the front makes its way into the area, there is a slight possibility for severe weather; the main threats will be heavy rain and wind, but we’ll need to watch carefully for rotation.

The trying times ahead will be well worth it. Behind the rainmaking system comes beautiful fall weather for the second day of the season on Thursday. Sunny skies and highs in the 60s and 70s await us to close out the week ahead. Lows may dip down into the 40s north and west of the Metro.

Tonight: Cloudy. Stray shower possible. Low: 70°. Wind: SE 5-10.

Monday: Clouds remain. PM isolated showers. High: 83°. Wind: SE 5-10. Gusts: 20+

Monday Night: Isolated showers early becoming scattered overnight. Low: 68°. Wind: E 5-15.

Tuesday: Widespread rain. Heavy rainfall possible. High: 74°. Wind: E 5-15.
