Miramax Sues Quentin Tarantino Over Pulp Fiction NFTs

[ad_1]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The movie studio is suing because of Tarantino’s plans to sell non-fungible tokens using seven original scenes from the film. The NFTs Tarantino wants to sell include excerpts from his handwritten script and exclusive commentary. The problem is that Miramax owns most of the rights to the iconic film and claims the NFTs infringe on its intellectual property.

The studio already sent Tarantino a cease and desist letter after learning of his plan. Miramax says when he refused to comply, it filed the lawsuit.

Earlier in November, Tarantino appeared at the NFT.NYC conference to announce the news and stressed the fact that it is all of his original work. Tarantino says, “It’s written by me, with all the good and the bad that comes with that. All the misspellings all the weird doodles all the weird notes to myself that are written in this thing, it’s all there. I like the idea that the buyer has the opportunity to do with it what they will.”

Tarantino has not yet publicly responded to the Miramax lawsuit.

Our question of the night: is the movie studio being greedy?
