DALLAS, N.C. — Gaston County Police have charged a 27-year-old man for sex offenses involving children after officers received a complaint of sexual abuse taking place inside a home in Dallas, N.C.
Matthew Ponder of Dallas, N.C. is charged with two felony counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, one felony count of Statutory Rape of a Child, one felony count of 1st Degree Statutory Sex Offense with a Child, one felony count of Incest with a Child under the age of 13, and one felony count of Sex Act on a Minor by Substitute Parent/Custodian for his involvement, according to a news release.

The Gaston County Department of Social Services made the report of sexual abuse going on in the home to police.
Authorities say Ponder is currently being held in the Gaston County Jail under a $1 million dollar secured bond.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
