Statesville Mother Speaks Out About Son’s Recovery, 4 Months After Being Shot

STATESVILLE, N.C. — It’s been nearly four months, and still no arrests in the shooting of a 7-year-old boy in Statesville.

Maliki Ramseur’s mother says her son is still struggling to process what happened to him.  Ramseur was one of three children shot in their neighborhood in two separate drive-by shootings back on June 28.  8-year-old Ah’Miyahh Howell was killed, her son Tariq Lowery was injured.  About an hour and a half after that shooting, about three blocks away, someone opened fire while Maliki and his sister were walking to a friend’s house.  Maliki was shot in the back.  7 people were arrested for Ah’Miyahh and Tariq’s shooting, but no one has been arrested for shooting Maliki.

“Somebody hurt by child, literally could’ve took him away from me, and they ain’t even suffering the consequences,” says Tracy Ramseur, Maliki’s mother.

“When the kids playing, you’re not supposed to shoot kids when they’re just having fun,” says Maliki Ramseur, shooting victim.

Statesville Police told WCCB News there are no updates and no arrests at this time.  If you have any information about this case, call police.
