The winter-like chill holds on for now, but the warmest air we’ve seen in two weeks arrives on Tuesday.
Christmas may be just under 50 days away, but we’ve been gifted with winter-like weather since Wednesday. While the chill holds on for now, big changes slide into the forecast by the start of the workweek. An area of low pressure will ride the Carolina coastline into Sunday, which should keep things cloudy to kick off our Sunday. A few showers are even possible for our eastern counties, but don’t expect much in terms of totals. The clouds and isolated rain will slowly peel back as we head into the afternoon, before abundant sunshine arrives by the early evening. Much of the Piedmont should get into the 60s, but how quickly the sunshine arrives is key for our forecast.
However, there’s no doubt that warmer air eventually will prevail in the Carolinas. In fact, we should see our warmest highs in two weeks this Tuesday, as the 60s and 70s pair up with plentiful sunshine. Another winter-like chill arrives by next weekend, so enjoy the warmth while it lasts.
