Troopers: Driver Killed & Passenger Seriously Injured In York County Head-On Collision

YORK CO., S.C. — Troopers are investigating a fatal head-on collision in York County that left one person dead and another seriously injured early Saturday morning.

The driver of a 2019 Chevrolet truck was heading north on SC Highway 5 around 7 a.m., when a driver in an unknown vehicle heading south on the same highway crossed over the center line and struck the Chevrolet head-on, according to a news release.

Troopers say the driver in the unknown vehicle died at the scene and their front seat passenger was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Chevrolet driver, later identified as James Wyatt, was uninjured during the crash.

The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing.
