CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The legendary rocker, David Lee Roth has announced his upcoming retirement. The 66-year-old Van Halen frontman says he will perform his final shows in Las Vegas at the end of December into the first few days of the new year.
Roth was singing with Van Halen during its heyday in the 70’s and 80’s. The band has had other lead singers after Roth took a twenty year break from the group before returning in 2006.
In the early days of the band’s music, Roth remembers making $200 a night and then having to use most of it on gas. The retiring singer has an upcoming birthday on October 10th when he will turn 67.
Last year, Eddie Van Halen, the group’s guitarist and namesake died of cancer.
