ROCK HILL, S.C. — Officials in York County have approved a plan or a $52 million park along the Catawba River.

The Catawba Bend Preserve will run along 5 miles of the river east of Rock Hill. Officials say York County plans over 15 years to build hiking and mountain biking trails, campsites, boat ramps and fishing spots along with an events center and a playground.

The county says work will begin next summer on the road into and out of the park and on a paved walkway along the river.
